Description

Diamond Compound is a very effective method of honing and polishing the cutting edge of the knife. Diamond is the hardest commercially available substance on Earth. Diamond Compound consists of synthetic diamond powder.

Diamond Compound can be used with any strop made of smooth or coarse leather, balsa or felt. Smooth leather is best strop material for Diamond Compound.

Diamond Compound does not require any preparations. However, you can experience difficulty to take the compound from the jar if your air temperature is below 20°C (68°F). In such case, you can slightly warm compound to make it molten. Take a small amount of compound and evenly distribute it to the surface of the strop.

You will not be able to fully remove the compound after applying it to the strop. If you want to use your strop both with and without compound, you must, therefore, keep one side clean. If you want to switch between one compound and another, consider buying an extra strop.

Compound residue accumulates in the leather during stropping. If stropping performance gets worse, remove the residue with a knife spine or special tool, and apply the fresh compound.

My first experience stopping with a diamond. I make my own strops for friends and family and have been using the green compound to good effect. This venev 7 micron takes it a step further. I have a 1 micron spray from CKTG and was mildly impressed in the improvement it made. Now I'm all in and plan on making my own emulsion and sprays. Black Beard Projects rules.

Seems to work great so far. It comes in a 2.5" wide by 2" tall (50x65mm) plastic jar, filled a bit over half way (with the 10 micron size) which will likely vary depending on diamond size. It contains 50 grams of product, I am not sure how much of that is diamond. The product itself is a green wax or grease of some kind. It is fairly firm in the jar but once you start moving it around it becomes quite soft, maybe around a vaseline consistency or so which makes application very easy.

A lifetime of mirror edges for a low price. I purchased the 14,7,3,1, and 0.5. They all work great on basswood strops (what i use) and if used properly you can get mirror edges very easily. These are wax based and you'll be waiting forever if you wait for them to dry. Apply to your strop and heat it up with a heat gun/hair dryer until the wax evaporates. I threw my wood strops in the oven at 350f for 10 mins and they came out perfectly dry.

Loses one star for being in a jar. This is good stuff, but putting it in a jar requires you to scoop with your finger. The lipstick tubes are much easier to use. This is the only diamond paste I've used, so no comparison to other diamond compounds. I've tried a dozen or so non-diamond compounds and this is by far the best out of that bunch.

Excellent paste and you get a LOOOOT for the money. This is enough paste to last you a lifetime basically because you use VERY VERY small amounts of this on the leather/wood (depending on how you like to strop). This is probably equivalent to about 2-3 of the typical little syringes you get from other brands. The only downside is that the color of the paste is the same between grits (at least my 1 and 3 micron are) so you’ll need to label your strop with a sharpie if you have multiple grits. It’s not a big deal though and a very easy fix with a shape that you should already have in your sharpening kit if you know what you’re doing and sharpening properly.

This diamond paste is not just for stropping! I purchased all grits from 60 micron down to .5 micron. Stropping is only one use for this product. I use it on buffing wheels and on felt polishing points in my Dremel tool. You can use it for lapping, scratch removal, and polishing of metal, glass, ceramic, stone, gemstones, jewelry, silver, etc.

New to the dark art of freehand sharpening & stropping. That said, for the price you get much more than expected at this price. Jar could of been half the size & I still would of thought it fair. Gritomatic had it delivered in two business days so, all around good experience so far.
