I have the set of 5 Boride Stones (“universal” I think). When the low grit started cupping, I wanted to try the CBN stones (quite a quality jump), but had no oil. I have no other oil to compare to, but will note adding the oil to the CBN stone was nearly as much of an improvement as going from Boride to CBN. Happy camper here/I will order more should I go through all of this bottle.

I bought the "Stroppy Stuff Honing Oil" from GritoMatic and couldn't be happier. I used to just use soapy water as a sharpening lube and on a whim decided to try a honing oil to see if I noticed anything different. And yes it's different and a better difference. I'm using a fixed angle sharpener, the Kadet Pro and In my opinion the honing oil just seems to give the stones a smoother ride across the blade, it just feels more effortless. the second thing I noticed is that the oil is actually cleaner than soapy water. the oil actually suspends the slag from the sharpening and keeps it on the stone and when it gets loaded all you have to do is use a rag or paper towel wipe off the stone. After years of using soapy water I am going to stick with honing oil. I want to take this time to thank GritoMatic for supplying me with my sharpening needs. They're a wonderful store and have just about everything one needs.

Stroppy Stuff Honing Oil is great. Creates a smoother grind and controls particulate really well. I've also used it to clean my stones. And lubricate moving parts on my TSPROF system.

My Venev resin bonded diamond stones loaded up pretty quickly. I spent a fair amount of time cleaning them and restoring them. I decided to try Stroppy Stuff Honing Oil. This stuff is fantastic! It makes my stones work like new, keeping them clean and cutting well. I have read articles and seen videos saying that honing oil is not recommended for my Venev stones. All I can say is that it works for me!

I've tried some of the water based honing oils and found that although they are a bit less messy, they dry out too quickly and have to be reapplied. The Stroppy Stuff oil works right through the stone sequence without needing another application. It also saves me lots of time in cleaning the clogged abrasive surface of the stones. I've used it with between 50-8000 grit in hybrid CBN stones. They simply wipe clean after sharpening and are ready for both storage and the next use. I couldn't be more pleased! Tip: Put a piece of clear packing tape over the label when you first get it. Otherwise any drips running down from the nozzle will make the label fall off.

This is really great honing oil! I've been using on my Atoma and Sharpal plates and it really does make them cut better. It improves the feel as well. A quick wipe and all the removed metal comes right off. I've got some resin-bonded diamond stones on the way so I'll try this stuff on them as well. Really good stuff, and a very small amount is all it takes.

This is way better than the old bottle of Smith's honing oil I had. Smoother on the stone, need less of it, doesn't smell bad, and doesn't compromise feedback. This is what honing oil should be.
